Brushpot in shape of bamboo segment with cicada, vintage stoneware, Japan

Sculptural and wild brushpot (jug to hold brushes for painting, calligraphy or 'regular' writing') in the shape of a bamboo segment with roots at the base and a branch with leaves, on which sits a cicada. All very three-dimensional.

Heavy stoneware with thick multi-colored glaze.
