Vintage sake cup, guinomi Chokaro’s horse between gourd leaves, Ko-Kutani stoneware, Japan

Small vintage guinomi, sake cup, made of thin cream-colored stoneware covered with a light-pinkish hued glaze over which in iron red and green and dark gray enamels a decoration in the bottom of the cup of a jumping, red horse between large gourd leaves and vine. 

This is sennin Chokaro’s tiny horse that he carries with him inside a gourd. A sennin is a Daoist immortal.

Kutani mark on the outside in iron red.
